Description: An art exhibition inspired by Smallville. It's taking place at the persquaremetre gallery in Melbourne (191-193 Johnston Street Collingwood VIC 3066) from the 9th to the 21st of October. If you're in town, check it out. Here's what Natalie has to say: She Saw Him and Was Amazed - a personal response to the 'superlad' myth as portrayed in the Smallville TV series. Two years ago I discovered the 'sublime' experience that is Smallville. I was entranced by the superlad's agonies over his powers, his clashes with his all-powerful father, his loneliness and alienation from those around him. There was no way around it - Clark is an alien and will never really belong. This got me thinking about Jesus and Samson and all the other alienated beings that live amongst us now...and it got me thinking about PAINT. So here is my response to Smallville and the Sublime of the small screen. I hope you can come along to the show or check out my website www.mypetprojects.com.au... and thanks to the Smallville Files for keeping it all in perspective! |

MarlowWB ::: Favorites 2007-09-21 05:00:47 this is another disturbing piece of work by Salmanx...what is this CAT on...he takes me to a dark place, reminiscent of David Lynch. The rythmn is mesmerising, the images haunting. Will i have nightmares if i go to the art show which inspired this work? Can't wait to see it and Salmanx' next work... __________________________________________________ |
